There is plenty of confusion when it comes to finding a restaurant in Boston where dogs are allowed. I think most everyone understands dogs are restricted from going inside a business which prepares and serves food unless your dog is a service animal. Many dog owners understand your only hope is to find an outdoor patio where your dog might be welcome. But even then, there are times when dog owners are turned away and others when we are happily welcomed.

I thought I would find a better answer to the where? and why? questions that I receive on a daily basis. It took a little digging but I have some answers, suggestions of best restaurant bets for dog owners and tips to ensure proper etiquette.Â

The South End is known for great food and being very dog friendly. There is one place where great food and dogs come together perfectly, the South End Buttery. Usually you will find "The Buttery" on lists for best cupcakes or heavily reviewed by Boston Foodies as the perfect place to go for a great sandwich or unique dinner. I am not going to argue any of those points. What I do want to point out is this fantastic eating and coffee establishment is very dog friendly.     Â

Newsflash for the pizza eating dog lovers in Boston. There is a new'ish pizza shop on Newbury Street where you can get away with having a slice of pizza while walking your dog. Bostone Pizza has been getting great reviews for their pizza. The fact that you can get a slice of "Sicilian" in Boston is even bigger news for some.
