Crane Beach: Good Dogs, Off-Leash At The Beach
When it comes to beaches, I am a bit of a snob after spending many a long summer on Nantucket’s white sand beaches. This sunny winter weekend, we took a ride just North of Boston to Crane Beach in Ipswich Massachusetts. We found an incredibly beautiful beach, where dogs are allowed to play off leash, at least in the winter.
Our Boston dog, who spent his puppyhood as a beach dog on Nantucket, was shaking with excitement when we pulled into the parking lot at Crane Beach. The salty ocean breeze, the sounds of talkative seagulls and the promise of saltwater meeting sand is as intoxicating to my dog as is myself. New England Ski Trip With Your Dog
Pack the ski gear, load the car and head North, just don’t forget to bring the dog. Because this New England ski trip is pet friendly not just pet tolerant. Too many times in the past we have cut our ski trips short because of the dog. This weekend that changed when we drove into Jackson NH with our dog’s head happily hanging out the window. Jackson sits in the center of New Hampshire’s ski country and happens to have one of the most pet friendly bed and breakfast inns I have come across thus far. Road Trip to Portland Maine

I spent the bulk of my childhood traveling back and forth to a lake in Maine, where my grandfather had purchased land and built three modest cottages in what felt like the middle of nowhere. Going to Maine for long weekend meant packing three sisters and three Setters, along with our parents into the minivan and making the 4.5-hour trek during what my parents had deemed the off-peak travel times.
Today, things are a little different. Instead of my sisters and parents, I’m traveling with my devoted boyfriend of many years, Jay, and our ever so adventurous Pointer Moose in the canine seat of our car. Together, the three of us drive from Boston to Maine in just under two hours. Rather than reaching Portland and heading another 30 miles to the Northwest, we usually make Portland’s Old Port our final destination.
One of the reasons why we love Portland so much is because of just how dog friendly Portland Maine is. We continue to find dog friendly restaurants, shops and places each and every time we visit. I am excited to highlight for you a few of our favorites. Continue reading
