Bostone Pizza on Newbury Street

Newsflash for the pizza eating dog lovers in Boston. There is a new’ish pizza shop on Newbury Street where you can get away with having a slice of pizza while walking your dog. Bostone Pizza has been getting great reviews for their pizza. The fact that you can get a slice of “Sicilian” in Boston is even bigger news for some.

We were exploring the Back Bay when hunger set in and we found ourselves struggling to find something quick and inexpensive where we could eat with a minimal amount of hassle. Considering we had our dog on Newberry Street this was tougher than you might imagine. Our choices seemed to be either eating a full meal on one of the outdoor cafes or getting something to go. I was not in the mood to drag food over to the Commonwealth Mall. Although on other days a picnic on the Comm is a fine option to do with your girl and the dog.

This is when we found ourselves looking down at the entrance to Bostone Pizza. We notices the brick benches on both sides of the entrance just below street level. From inside while standing in line you still have a clear view of your dog tied up on the brick benches outside. I know this is a long stretch from dog friendly and you need to make sure your dog is going to be fine waiting outside. But as long as he is not jumping on other patrons as they pass by,  you should be good. You can reward your dog with a slice of pizza for being brave when you come back out. I know our dog enjoyed lunch on the benches with us.

As far as the Pizza goes, Bostone makes a great pie. I am a big fan of the Upper Crust and Bostone has a similar style in regards to their thin crust; Bostone has a really nice crisp bottom that can be very difficult to find outside NY/New Jersey.

However, what really makes Boston Pizza unique is their selection of Sicilian slices. Until I was standing in line I had never noticed how rare it is to see Sicilian pizza in Boston. They are also getting rave reviews on Yelp about their selection of Pizza!

I have to say I am glad there is another great Pizza shop in Boston. The Real Estate office I work for is just around the corner making this a great place to pop in for a quick lunch.

  1. Bostone Pizza was a GREAT find. And yes, Moose loved his reward for being a good boy while we ate our lunch. This is a easy, tasty, inexpensive option when you’re on Newbury with your dog.
