Dog Friendly Park in Boston North End

Columbus Park in Boston’s North End

We used to live across from the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park on Commercial Street, one of my favorite areas in Boston. Columbus Park is situated on Boston Harbor at the edge of the North End across from Faneuil Hall. During the summer you will find plenty of people and dogs lazing out in the sun. There is plenty of grass but not enough for an off-leash excursion. The surrounding streets are very busy with traffic. So when you are here make sure you understand your dog’s limits.

For those who live in the North End or the Financial District, Columbus Park is a great place to talk your Boston dog for a walk. The park is beautiful and usually has a good group of other dog owners socializing while their dogs exercise. During the summer this is a fantastic place to relax in the sun. The setting is beautiful and easy to walk to when you are in downtown Boston (Google Map Link)

There are plenty of receptacles to get rid of your poop bags. I suggest bringing your own bags as I have yet to find a bag dispenser in this park.

Alongside the park overlooking the water, Joe’s American Grill has outdoor seating during the warmer months, where your dog is welcome as well. The outdoor patio overlooks the marina and Columbus Park. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby of the Marriott on Long Wharf where you can slip in for a cup of hot coffee, with your dog. Faneuil Hall has a few places to eat with outdoor seating as well.

This is the one Boston Park with free Wifi that I know about. For those who can work from a laptop, this is a great place to spend the day hanging out outside with your dog while getting some work done.

As always, please pick up your dogs poop. This is too nice of a park to lose access for Boston dogs.

  1. I had no idea this park has free wifi. You cannot beat sitting out in Columbus Park in the summer with your starbuck’s, laptop and dog running running around you!
