The South End Buttery: Great Food, Dog Friendly

The South End is known for great food and being very dog friendly. There is one place where great food and dogs come together perfectly, the South End Buttery. Usually you will find “The Buttery” on lists for best cupcakes or heavily reviewed by Boston Foodies as the perfect place to go for a great sandwich or unique dinner. I am not going to argue any of those points. What I do want to point out is this fantastic eating and coffee establishment is very dog friendly.      

I am not sure I have ever been there without seeing at least one dog sitting outside while their owner slips inside to order some Buttery goodness. If you look to the left of the main entrance you will even see a hook for dog leashes. Once inside, a dog owner would surely notice the photography on the walls, pictures of the owners’ dog taken by one of my favorite Boston dog photographers. Hopefully, you caught the first part of that last sentence, “the owners of the South End Buttery are dog owners”, as well as crafty with food and service.

Whether you are looking for an excellent cup of coffee and something tasty, a great sandwich or a fantastic dinner, the menu at The South End Buttery should cover your needs. The food is fantastic, the staff is friendly and outside there are a few tables where your dog can join you while you eat, socialize and relax.

Just up Shawmut Avenue, you will find the famous Polka Dog Bakery, well worth picking up a treat for your dog either before or after your trip to the South End Buttery. I also highly recommend taking a stroll around the quaint streets of the South End, as this is a beautiful part of Boston, with a fantastic place for dog owners to have something to eat with there dog as company.
