An urban dog with a high prey drive has its challenges when living in a city like Boston. There are many breeds of dogs whose instinct to hunt may consume all other rational thought when the slightest hint of wildlife is nearby. And let me tell you, there is plenty of wildlife living in Boston. Our dog has shown me the hiding place of every bird and squirrel we have come across in Boston. Even in tonight’s photo as soon as we set up our shot, something moved in a nearby bush and the promise of liver treats and whistles meant nothing. This was one of those moments when you are glad you spent countless hours training and working with your dog.
