Playing at the Peters Park Dog Run, The South End

Boston’s South End probably has the best dog run I have come across yet. This park is for dogs was very well designed with areas for large and small dogs, as well as a double gate entry on both ends to keep dogs from pulling a Houdini.  There is a nice water bowl that continues to drain instead of collecting slobber from the St. Bernard ahead of your dog.  There are waste containers within an easy toss from the pea stone area where your dog can run madly in circles while you chat with other like minded dog owners.

This is a nice dog run and the regulars seem to make sure it stays nice.  The first time I was there, someone had an aggressive dog in the mix and it only took a few moments for people to speak up.  Not the kind of place to go if you think you can pretend your dog didn’t poop.  This is, however, a great place to socialize your dog while you meet a few new people. Here are some reviews I found on Yelp.

There is metered parking across the street from Peters Park.  Unless it is Sunday, remember to bring a handful of quarters if you are not walking.  When your dog becomes exhausted, there is a great selection of restaurants and shops that are pet friendly as well.
