Power Of Dog, by Les Krantz

The book Power of the Dog: Things Your Dog Can Do That You Can’t by Les Krantz is on my must read list for dog lovers. It is the first book I have picked up which explores the very unique powers of the dog. By unique powers I refer to a service dog’s ability to sense when their master is about to have a seizure. Or the many stories where dogs have acted far different from their norm in order to keep their master from harms way. I argue this book will help you understand more about your dog’s abilities.

In this incredibly well written book, by Les Krantz who graduated from veterinary school to serve in Vietnam with the Air Force Sentry Dogs, starts off with stories retold from Military dog handlers and the hair raising experiences they experienced. The moments in time where their dogs saved their lives by removing them from harms way. Les Krantz continues on to explore by both storytelling and scientific method the other abilities found in dogs. Once again I thought this book was fantastic and am very surprised it has not gotten more press already.

a side note; My father served with the Army in Vietnam as a dog handler. Every once in awhile share tales about his canine partner who he always accredited to bringing him home safely. In addition to providing a sense of balance in a world of madness. If my father were still alive he would have loved this book as well.

  1. Thanks for the good words about my book. I too was surprised the book didn’t get more press. Best regards, Les Krantz

    • Wow, thanks for noticing.

I think your book was terrific. If my father were still alive he would have added the Power of Dog to our required reading list. Yes, my dad would hand us books and say “Read it, it is important.”; and we would.

I think, think all dog owners should read your book. It is important to understand just what a dog is capable of.

So I say, “Read it, it is important”.
